Some basic player physics code and such is reused from a tutorial by Peyton Burnham. He has given permission for this code to be used freely, but I am unaffiliated with him otherwise.

My take on a "mariovania;" a metroidvania with the mechanics and segmented level design of a Mario-style platformer. At the start, you are able only to walk and fall, unable to even run or jump, and must achieve all of your abilities (for the sake of the jam, "powers") by progressing through levels. I ran out of time to do a whole bunch of them though, so there's only two real levels and the third one is a break room.

CONTROLS:

• L/R arrow keys or left stick to walk
• (when unlocked) hold down key or down on left stick to crouch? shrink?
  • hold down while running to slide. if you get stuck under a tile you'll enter a sinister crawling state
• (when unlocked) jump with X key or Button1 (Cross on Playstation, A on Xbox)
• (when unlocked) run with Z key or Button3 (Square on Playstation, X on Xbox). press twice to double jump... when unlocked
