Tilescapes (Early Access)
A downloadable game for Windows
Tilescapes is an open-world sandbox game floating above an infinite, azure abyss similar to Minecraft skyblock. The game moves in time with your own movements, so nothing moves unless you do! This allows you to play it literally at your own speed, and as a result there is very minimal lag that could even possibly occur.
Your movement is aligned to a grid, and your character moves in steps, as do enemies. This presents its own unique challenges: what do you do if you get cornered, and while placing tiles to escape the enemy is only getting closer, while you're forced to stand still? If you run out of space to run, would you have time to place tiles to escape to? Okay, that's really only one unique challenge.
This game is currently in early access. I have a lot more ideas of where to go with the game from here, and I hope to update it in the future, but I feel like this is a good place to open it up to the public for feedback. I think that you'll be able to get the gist of it with this version, at least, and maybe even enjoy it???
CONTROLS:
- WASD to move
- Left Click to place tile or attack enemy
- Right Click to remove tile
- Scroll wheel or number keys to select a different color of tile
- ESC to generate a new seed
Fair warning: right now, you can't save your worlds. All progress will be lost upon closing the game. Obviously this would be changed going forward, but I haven't implemented that yet.
